New stack product packaging Iranian Pistachio techniques
Pistachio farms in the United States have already begun production and supply of pistachios in plastic bags made of AOH and in small packages for sale in their vending machines.
The AOH used to pack pistachios is actually a layer of modified polypropylene (OPP) coated with acrylic on one side and polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) on the other. Excellent oxygen transfer rate (OTR) with an average of 0.04 cc per 100 square inches in 24 hours and also has good printing and movement on the machine.
The company uses a nitrogen injection system to prevent oxidation and renalization of pistachios. In Parmont farms, processed pistachios are stored in cold storage at 40 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit until loading.
The product of these farms is currently packaged and marketed under the Sun Cyst brand. The product is exported to regions such as Singapore, Indonesia and India, where moisture absorption is also a serious problem and requires the outer layer of OPP with a combination of oxygen-inhibiting properties.
